A Rich History
On arriving in the region in the late 1860s, founding father William “Billy” Moore named his settlement “Coldwater,” representing the river flowing from a local spring.
In the 1940s, the town’s post office moved near Avondale Ranch and took its name. In 1959, the area became the City of Avondale. As the region developed, small western town-style architecture popped up all over, with cotton farming and ranching keeping the economy alive.
