How Surprise Has Grown
Our proximity to Phoenix means that we’ve continued to grow by leaps and bounds. First founded on a one-square-mile piece of farmland by Flora Mae Statler in 1938, even she didn’t think the town would “amount to much.” From those tiny beginnings, Surprise is now the 10th largest city in Arizona, with nearly 150,000 residents.
